We are open for submissions for novels, novellas and short stories written by authors of any nationality living in the UK or Ireland. Novels and longer novellas (30,000+ words) will be considered for publication as stand-alone books. Short stories and shorter novellas (fewer than 30,000 words) will be kept on file and considered for inclusion in anthologies.
We accept submissions of general, historical, speculative, mystery and literary fiction aimed at adults, young adults or middle-grade readers. We regret that we are currently unable to accept submissions of picture books and chapter books, though we hope that will change in the future.
All submissions must explore social and/or environmental justice in some way; if you are unsure whether your story qualifies, a good benchmark is the definition of a ‘radical fiction book’ developed by the Little Rebels Award.
Please email your submissions as a .doc/.docx attachment to Marta Pacini at email@example.com with the subject ‘Submission: Title’. For novels and longer novellas please submit the first three chapters and a synopsis of the rest. Please include a cover page with your name, email address, submission title, genre, audience and word count. In an effort to keep the selection process as free from bias as possible please do not include a bio with your submission.
Please format your manuscript in a 12 pt serif font (e.g. Times New Roman) with 1.5 line spacing and include page numbers. Libre Office offer an open-source word editing software which will allow you to comply with these requirements. Please only ignore the formatting requirements if you have a disability or other life circumstance which prevents you from complying with them.
Finally, please do not send first drafts! Make sure that your work is as polished as you can reasonably make it, both in terms of story development and grammar.
